Right now I have a lot of Emotions Running through me.

Which is Ironic because yesterday was Global Running Day!

It was also World Environment Day, which had me thinking a lot about Impact...

Especially with the Radical Generosity Guarantee I made with the Mr. Health And Fitness 2024 Competition.

This year's World Environment Day had a slogan for the year.

Our land. Our Future. We Are #GenerationRestoration

Our Future is tied to our Land, and to Us taking Restorative and Regenerative Efforts.

Looking at the Future, it will take Significant Efforts to make the Positive Change that is Needed -

BUT

I also know for a Fact that "Significant" Efforts Always Come From Small Efforts.

The Little Things We Do, Every Day, Add Up.

However, what "Appears" to be Addition, actually Becomes Exponential.

Whether it is Regenerating Yourself, or the World, this is how Life Works.

How do I Know that?

I Experienced a Tiny Taste of it Yesterday.

See, as a Part of Global Running Day, I decided I would do a 5k at my Full Current Capabilities.

To give you Context, my History with Running has been Extensive.

I first began running in Middle School doing Track.

When I got to High School, I ended up doing Cross Country.

In my Sophmore Year of Running, I was told that I had Osgood-Schlatter "Disease".

If you don't know what that is, it sounds much scarier than it is in Reality.

It is an overuse condition or injury of the knee that ends up becoming a painful bump and swelling on the shinbone below the knee.

That bump on the knee never ends up going away - to this day I still have it.

However, I was undeterred... or maybe just extremely Stubborn.

So I continued my Cross Country Career, and eventually I became a Varsity Runner.

At my height, I could run Sub-6 Minute Miles Consistently.

But after High School, I decided to Focus on NCAA D3 Lacrosse.

Really, I've never gotten back to my Running Peak in High School.

Then, a few years ago, I began training for Obstacle Course Racing because I fell in love with them.

I did do "some" Running Training, but I put most of my Effort into Strength Training as that was my Weakness.

Overall, I was Improving...

Until...

October 23rd, 2022.

I decided to do my Second Spartan Ultra, an Obstacle Course Race consisting of a 50k+ Run (or 31+ Miles) with 60+ Obstacles.

It was a rough race for me where I ended up injuring both my Shoulder and my Knee.

I Did Finish, but it was Ugly.

Since then, I have been taking a lot of time to Restore my Body.

A lot of Little Efforts.

A lot of Facing My Ego.

A lot of Forcing Myself to Accept Recovery.

Really, that has been a large part of my Fitness Since.

Then, yesterday came.

I decided, let's go All Out for a 5k.

Let's see how far the Recovery has Come.

If I Feel Hurt, I Can Always Slow Down.

I took off...

First Mile - 6:58

I couldn't believe it.

I hadn't run that fast since my Junior Year of High School Varsity Cross Country over a Decade Ago.

I can't see how my Training has led to This...

Surely I was about to Fall Off...

Second Mile - 7:25

No way...

That isn't possible...

I was expecting 9+ Minute Miles...

Surely I'm about to Crash...

Third Mile - 7:44

5k (3.1 Miles) Finish - 22:54

How did I do that?

That was the question that kept going through my head.

Could I not only have Recovered Fully, without "Any" Pain?

But also Improve "More", to the Same Level as I was in High School?

Is that Possible?

Then I thought about it.

Fundamentals.

When you make Small Efforts, Consistently, they have Gigantic Impacts.

I have been locked into the Fundamentals as a part of my Recovery Plan.

Form, Correct Foot Placement, Strengthening the Right Muscles, and Proper Landing Mechanics.

All part of my Recovery and Regenerative Efforts for my Body.

I looked at my VO2 Max (A Measure of Physical Health).

54 According to My Garmin, Estimated Using The Cooper Institute Measurements.

That puts me at a "Superior" Rating, Top 5% for my Age (30) and Gender (Male), with a Fitness Age of 23.5.

Fundamentals.

Training my Breathing to Become More Efficient, Nutrition to Improve My Energy Creation and Usage, Reducing Stressors to Improve Recovery, and Developing My Maximum Aerobic Function.

All part of my Recovery and Regenerative Efforts for my Body.

Small Efforts, when Combined, Create Exponential Results.

This brought me back to both the Mr. Health and Fitness 2024 Competition, as well as Generation Restoration.

I have talked about my Plans if I win the Mr. Health and Fitness 2024 Competition, and how I will use all of the Prize to do a Minimum of:

10,000 m2 of Habitats Protected for Critically Endangered Species
56,000 Plastic Bottles Removed from Our Oceans
500,000 m2 of Coral Reef Restoration
1,000,000 Miles of Car Emissions Removed

All to Show that when We Work Together, We "Can" Change The World.

I then Further Declared that Win or Lose, I will Match All Hero Votes (Optional Paid Votes) in a Donation to the B+ Foundation Helping Children Facing Cancer.

To me, this is Important both because Children "Are" Our Future, and because my Friend and Brother Scott passed from Inoperable Brain Cancer.
