I'm continually surprised that we're still dealing with this pandemic.
BUT I am even MORE surprised at the background brain cycles I spend on ideas for 'the next one'.Rational? Nope! But I can't stop thinking about them, so here are 10 of them in their... glory? ๐1/ Buy an abandoned mall.I assume that one way or the other I will, in the future, be living communally in a building not originally built for living in. An old mall? A school?A firehouse?I just hope we move there by choice, not because society has crumbled.2/ Construct a pack of animalsIdeally not even the same kind of animal. If I were to have a dog I wouldn't want just one dog, but a pack of dogs.I'd provide for them and they'd deign to live near us, with mutual respect on both sides. Then maybe add some goats and turkeys?3/ Turn off the news completelyDuring this pandemic I obtained a news addiction and I don't think it served me well.Next pandemic you can just send me a telegram when it's over.4/ Move my social life to be entirely digitalWhat if, instead of being sad about not sharing meals with those I love I accepted the online reality AND used it to meet new people? One of the biggest bummers about this time has been the barrier to meeting new people.5/ Buy a plot of land and convince all my friends to get RV'sIt's not a cult, I promise! But, despite having only slept in an RV twice, I think this might be a clutch way to not have to isolate from my day ones.6/ Move deeper into the wildernessWe moved to Oregon for the perfect blend of city and the outdoors. If there's another pandemic, who needs the city? I'd need to find the perfect mix of "deep in the woods" and "close to an Amazon locker".7/ Get a group of friends to rent houses near each otherLas Vegas here we come! The pattern is pretty clear: if we have to lock up again I'm bringing you with me!8/ Learn a language, but tell no one about it.The ultimate party trick! We considered not telling anyone we were having a baby, which I think was on the same level. This would require me having more motivation than I had this pandemic, but maybe quitting the news will help?9/ Communal living for childcare.Childcare is really, really hard in a pandemic.Though this pandemic caused me to learn how much of an introvert I really am, I would be happy to live on top of others if my baby got to play with other babies all the time.10/ If all else fails: dig a hole!Potentially a tunnel? Or a wine cellar?I'd call my blog "The Life Changing Joy of Digging a G-D big hole."You gotta do whatever brings you joy in this life.If you read this, thanks!Feel free to add your own weird wishes for a pandemic we all hope never happens.
