When I signed up I had no idea what I was getting myself into.
But I listened to that little voice inside my head and joined the Ship30for30 writing cohort, committing to 30 straight days in a row of publishing in public.
Here I am on Day 26, ready to distill 3 key points which the course has taught me and share how I'm applying them to Twitter and Instagram growth.
HEADLINES
In the Social Media game this is your one chance to capture the reader's attention.
On Twitter it's the headline of your tweet. On Instagram it's your Cover image. You'd better choose a good one because there is a lot on offer out there and people need their fix of dopamine.
Most importantly, your headline is never "too long" or your cover image "too outrageous" as long as you deliver on that promise.
OPENING HOOK
Your opener is the first chip in the bag. (Thanks Cole!)
Get the reader to agree to consume just one Pringle and if they do, they will likely continue reading. On Instagram this is the first 2 seconds of your clip.
You have to hook them right away or they'll probably lose interest and keep scrolling.
CONSISTENCY
Stay consistent within your niche.
Engage with your audience and fellow creators consistently.
Keep showing up and build creativity as you would a muscle.
Growth on both these platforms is a balancing act between creating punchy headlines, irresistible hooks and a dogged determination to keep shipping!
