My favorite App for Real-Time Audio Reactive Visuals

There are more than 100 VJ apps out there for performing live visuals from beginner to advanced.

But when it comes to Real-Time Audio-Reactive Visuals, there is 1 App I can't live without:

Synesthesia Live

And here's why:

  • It's purpose built from the ground up for real-time visuals with excellent audio reactivity. If you're a performer or in a band that needs responsive audio reactive visuals, give Synesthesia a go. It also has a powerful Autopilot mode.

  • You can pipe in live camera feeds, logos, existing video content or streams coming from other visual apps using NDI and Syphon/Spout.

  • It's cross platform for Windows and Mac and is very easy to install and use.

  • The content library is populated with GLSL shader code converted into Synesthesia's .scene format. You can customize the shaders by editing the code or create your own shaders from scratch.

  • It can import shaders from websites like Interactiveshaderformat.com and Shadertoy.com and by doing this you can expand your content library as much as you like.

  • It has a built in Market Place where additional scenes are available from developers who have coded them specifically for Synesthesia

If you need audio reactive visuals for a live show or as part of your editing workflow I can't recommend using this app enough.
