When I'm faced with a challenge or stuck in my head, I often turn to great questions to help me overcome it. Great questions change our lives, and they're always hiding in plain sight: in books, podcasts, conversations with friends, or even in our favorite shows.
I collect questions and have a list I turn to when a client, friend, or I need a little support or a shift in perspective.
Here are three questions I find myself asking a lot lately.
What do you really want? We can get so caught up in pursuing a dream or pushing toward something that we completely forget what and why we're doing it. This question forces us to stop and think about what truly matters most. Sometimes, our answer surprises us.
What would you do if you could only subtract to solve this problem? I ask this when I feel overwhelmed or when I'm completely overcomplicating a strategy or idea—never a good look.
We often think solutions involve adding new ingredients to the mix when the best answer is removing something. What do you know that you're pretending not to know? My coach asked me this the other day, and I absolutely love it. Well, I love it now, but when I first heard it, it felt like a punch to my gut. Yep, the best coaches push us to face our deepest thoughts and our true selves.
What questions are you pondering about these days?
