I ran 15 km on Sunday.
But here's the thing, I almost didn't go.
No energy. No willpower. Didn't feel like it.
So I didn't focus on "running 15 km."
I focused on the
Just get to the running store where my group meets.
That's it. Nothing more.
Once I was there, a new goal:
โ Just start running.
Then:
โ Just make it to 5 km.
At 5 km, some turned back to complete their 10 km.
I decided to continue.
15 km done.
James Clear talks about this, goals are overwhelming, systems are actionable.
David Allen calls it the "next action" in Getting Things Done, the smallest physical step you can take to move forward.
Two things made Sunday possible:
๐ฆ๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ป๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ถ๐น๐ถ๐๐, the running group was waiting.
I never thought about 15 km until it was done.
Stop thinking about the whole staircase.
Just take the next step.

What's one thing you've been overthinking that just needs a first step?
