You can't learn what you think you already know.

How do you learn when you think you already know everything?

With the help of “that person,” I’ll show you what I’m talking about.  “That person” seems to know everything there is to know about any topic you bring up.  And forget about introducing a topic that might be a touch outside the bounds of conventional thinking.

“That person” will have none of it.

When I started using my whole life insurance policies to store money, I ran into “that person” all the time.

To even suggest this as an alternative to typical financial planning led to all kinds of accusations like:

•“Oh, that’s a pyramid scheme.”

•”Whole Life Insurance has a terrible rate of return.”

•“You don’t get the cash value when you die.”

These statements are sound bites with no real thought put into them.

But do you want to know the worst part?

“That person’s” mind is shut off from learning anything new. It doesn’t matter if we’re discussing finances, gardening, writing, or [insert topic here].

Being humble means asking:

•What can I learn?

•How can I do this better?

Doesn’t that seem like a solid principle to live your life by?

What are you learning?

Feel free to reach out to discuss this further.
