Which agents can I hire?
You can hire these agents from the Marketplace:
- X Agent: writes, schedules and publishes posts and threads on X from your Digital Brain.
- LinkedIn Agent: posts, documents and carousels for LinkedIn.
- Substack Agent: writes, schedules and publishes Substack Notes from your Digital Brain.
- Threads Agent: writes, schedules and publishes Threads posts and threads from your Digital Brain.
- Designer: carousels, graphics, covers and art direction for every platform. It does not publish.
- AI Cole: Nicolas Cole's digital clone. Writing, positioning and ghostwriting coaching from his curriculum, grounded in your Digital Brain. It does not publish.
Agents for Instagram, YouTube and Bluesky are listed in the Marketplace but are not available yet. They show Soon or Coming soon instead of Hire. The Instagram Agent is next: it opens once Instagram has approved Typeshare's access.
You can hire each agent once.
What does the X Agent do?
The X Agent is your Head of X. It:
- Repurposes your own writing from your Digital Brain into X posts and threads.
- Fills your X queue on the days and times you chose, and publishes on schedule.
- Plans each week (with your approval in Pilot mode) and reviews how last week's posts performed.
- Turns a link you share (an essay, a Typeshare piece, a Notion page) into a set of posts.
- Adds images or videos from your Media library or a shared Google Drive folder when a post describes something a picture could show.
Posts are up to 280 characters, or up to 4,000 characters if your connected X account has X Premium. Longer ideas become threads.
What does the LinkedIn Agent do?
The LinkedIn Agent does the same job as the X Agent, for LinkedIn. It writes LinkedIn posts from your Digital Brain, fills your LinkedIn queue, publishes on schedule and plans each week. It can also post documents and carousels (a carousel goes out as one swipeable PDF).
LinkedIn posts can be up to 3,000 characters.
What does the Threads Agent do?
The Threads Agent does the same job as the X Agent, for Threads. It writes Threads posts and threads from your Digital Brain, fills your Threads queue, publishes on schedule, plans each week and reviews how last week's posts did (views, likes, replies, reposts and quotes).
- Posts can be up to 500 characters. Threads counts an emoji as 4 or more (a skin-tone or family emoji counts more), and so does the counter in the editor. Longer ideas become threads, each post a reply to the one before.
- A post can carry up to 20 images (they go out as a swipeable carousel) or one video on its own, up to 5 minutes.
- It can quote one of your own Threads posts when you ask (any of your last 500 posts or 500 replies): give it the post's link. When you paste a Typeshare piece you published to Threads, it already knows the piece's Threads post, so quote posts for it need no link. The quoted post shows under the post in review. It can't quote other people's Threads posts.
- Your CTAs go out as a reply under the post, like on X. Set them up in the agent's CTAs tab; the post editor shows which CTA a post will get, with Change and ×.
It uses the Threads account connected in Settings > Channels (see "How do I connect Threads?" in the connecting accounts help). Your past Threads posts are imported into your Digital Brain when you connect Threads and confirm it's your account (see the Digital Brain imports help); posts the agent publishes are added once they go out.
Can I hire a Threads Agent?
Yes. Open the Marketplace, find Threads Agent and click Hire. Its setup screen asks you to connect Threads, pick how much it does on its own and choose a posting schedule, the same as the X Agent.
What does the Instagram Agent do?
The Instagram Agent does the same job as the X Agent, for Instagram feed posts. It turns ideas from your Digital Brain into image posts, carousels and Reels with a caption, fills your Instagram queue, publishes on schedule, plans each week and reviews how last week's posts did (views, likes, comments, shares and saves). It isn't open for hire yet (it shows Coming soon in the Marketplace); once it opens, hire it from the Marketplace. It needs an Instagram Creator or Business account (connect it in Settings › Channels).
- Every post needs at least one image or video: one image, one video (a Reel), or up to 20 as a swipeable carousel. The agent picks them from your Media library or a shared Google Drive folder, or draws a tweet card. A post with no image that fits waits in review with a note saying what picture to add.
- Instagram crops every carousel slide to the first image's shape, and takes portrait (4:5) to landscape (1.91:1) images. Typeshare crops anything taller or wider from the centre and sends a JPEG copy, so PNG and WebP images work too.
- Captions can be up to 2,200 characters, with at most 30 hashtags and 20 @mentions. Links in captions aren't clickable on Instagram, so the agent leaves them out.
- CTAs aren't supported yet.
What kinds of Instagram posts can the Instagram Agent make?
- Photo posts: one image from your Media library or a shared Google Drive folder, with a caption.
- Carousels: 2 to 20 images that belong together. Ask it to post one of your existing carousels ("post my latest LinkedIn carousel on Instagram") and it lists your Designer and Write-page decks, the LinkedIn carousels in your Digital Brain and the LinkedIn Agent's carousels, then posts the slides with a caption written for Instagram. A carousel that only exists as a PDF can't be split into slides yet.
- Reels: one of your own videos with a caption. It plays in Reels and shows on your grid. The agent picks a video from your Media library when the video as a whole is about what the post says, or ask for one ("make a Reel from my podcast clip"). A Reel can be 3 seconds to 15 minutes and up to 300 MB, as an MP4 or MOV (H.264 or HEVC video, AAC audio, saved with "fast start" / web optimized). Vertical (9:16) videos look best. Instagram processes the video before it goes out, so a scheduled Reel uploads ahead of its time and can show as uploading first.
- Videos in carousels: a carousel can mix images and videos; each video plays as its own slide.
- Tweet cards: a short-form post drawn like a post on X (your photo, name, handle and the text, in your brand), 1080×1350. Ask for "tweet cards" or "my short-form posts on Instagram". The text on the card is your own post, word for word. The name, handle and photo come from your X profile; change them under Tweet card profile (below). A card made from one of your published posts shows that post's real likes, reposts, replies and bookmarks, as counted when it came into your Digital Brain; a card for words that were never posted shows no numbers. Typeshare never makes numbers up.
- Tweet Reels: the same card as a Reel, a silent vertical video that stays on screen for as long as the post takes to read (5 to 20 seconds). Reels reach people who don't follow you yet. Ask for "a tweet Reel" or "post my tweet as a Reel". It plays in the post's card in the chat. A tweet Reel is one still frame with nothing said, so the post editor shows no cover picker or captions for it. Want just the video, without a post? Ask for "the Reel on its own": it shows in the chat with Save to Media under it.
- Stories: ask for one any time ("post this to my Story", "put my latest essay on my Story"). In Pilot mode the Story shows in the chat as a phone-sized preview with Post story (tap the preview to see it full size); nothing goes out until you press it. In Autopilot it goes out straight away. A Story about a long-form piece is a card with its title, description and cover, and a Link in bio pill. Instagram doesn't let apps add link stickers, so the link has to live in your bio. Stories don't use your posting schedule and don't show on your Typeshare profile.
Why didn't my Instagram Reel go out?
The post's error says what Instagram objected to. The usual reasons:
- The video is under 3 seconds, over 15 minutes or over 300 MB.
- It isn't H.264 or HEVC video with AAC audio: re-export it as an MP4 (H.264 + AAC).
- Its index isn't at the start of the file: re-export it with "fast start" (or "web optimized") turned on.
Fix the video, replace it on the post (open the post, then Edit), and press Try again.
Can the Instagram Agent add a CTA to my posts?
Yes, as the post's first comment. Open the Instagram Agent's side panel, go to the CTAs tab and add your call to action (for example "Get my free guide: link in bio"). Typeshare posts it word for word as the first comment, right as the post goes out, on about the share of posts you set as your CTA frequency. You can set a delay or a likes threshold per CTA instead, as on X.
Links in Instagram comments aren't clickable, so an Instagram CTA can't have one: Typeshare won't save a CTA with a link in it. Point people to the link in your bio, or have them comment a word to get the link by DM (below). If you connected Instagram before CTAs came to Instagram, reconnect it once (Settings › Channels › Instagram) so Typeshare is allowed to comment and send DMs.
Can people comment a word on my Instagram posts to get a link by DM?
Yes. On the Instagram Agent's CTAs tab, open a CTA and click DM a link to people who comment a word. Type the word (for example GUIDE) and the DM people get (links work in DMs), and make the CTA itself ask for the word: "Comment GUIDE and I'll DM you my free guide." When someone comments that word on a post that carried the CTA, Typeshare sends them the DM from your account, once per comment. With DM a link on, the comment itself is optional: leave it empty and no comment is posted, and the caption asks for the word instead. Typeshare only puts a CTA like that on a post when the agent writes the ask into the caption (tell it, for example, "use my GUIDE CTA on this one"). Your own comments never get a DM. The CTA shows how many DMs it has sent. You can also ask the agent: "Add a CTA that DMs my course link to anyone who comments COURSE." Instagram only allows a DM within 7 days of the comment, and only as a reply to that comment. If you connected Instagram before this came out, reconnect it once (Settings › Channels › Instagram) so Typeshare is allowed to send DMs.
Can I choose which Media folders the Instagram Agent uses?
Yes. Open the Instagram Agent's side panel and click Media folders (it says All of Media until you choose). Tick the folders it may use, for example a folder of short videos and a folder of Instagram graphics, and set each one's share of posts (say 60% and 40%). Then click Save.
- The agent only uses files from the ticked folders, for its own picks and when Typeshare adds an image to a post for it.
- It keeps to the mix by taking each post's media from whichever folder is furthest behind its share. The window shows how much of its recent posts each folder supplied.
- Use all of Media goes back to the whole library.
Make or rename folders on the Media page.
Can I change the name, handle or photo on my tweet cards?
Yes. Open the Instagram Agent's side panel and click Tweet card profile under Settings. Pick whose profile the cards take (X by default, or Threads, LinkedIn, Bluesky, Substack or Typeshare), and fill in a Name, Handle or Photo to use your own instead. Turn off Show likes and reposts to keep numbers off your cards. Press Save; Use my X profile goes back to the default. You can also tell the agent: "use my Threads profile on tweet cards" or "put @samjshore on my cards". Cards already made keep their old profile: ask the agent to draw them again. An account that isn't connected shows your Typeshare name and photo.
Can my Reels have captions?
Yes, on Reels where someone talks. The agent can burn the spoken words into a Reel: big, bold lines, each word highlighted as it's said, placed where they cover the least (you can move them to the top, middle or bottom). It works on Reels up to 3 minutes long. A video with nothing said in it (a tweet Reel, text on screen, music only) never gets captions, whatever the setting, and the post editor doesn't offer them.
Choose how the agent handles it in its side panel under Reel captions:
- Ask me (the default): when it drafts a Reel, it asks whether you want captions on it.
- Always: every Reel it drafts gets captions.
- Never: no captions unless you ask ("add captions to that Reel").
You can also add them yourself: open the Reel (click its card) and press Add captions under the video.
Captions take a minute or two. The post shows Adding captions… until they're on, then the captioned video replaces the original on the post.
Where they go: Typeshare looks at the video and puts them where they cover the least (away from faces and on-screen text), usually the bottom. To move them, open the Reel and pick Top, Middle or Bottom under Captions (they're made again there, another minute or two), or ask the agent ("move the captions to the top").
To take captions off, press Remove under Captions, or ask the agent, and the original video goes back on the post.
How do I choose my Reel's cover?
Open the Reel (click its card). Under the video, Cover shows what your grid and the feed will show before it plays; until you choose, Instagram picks a frame.
- Choose frame: drag the slider to the moment you want, then Use this frame.
- Use an image: pick an image from your Media library, like a title card.
- Reset goes back to letting Instagram pick.
The cover saves straight away, and the card in the chat shows it. You can also ask the agent: "use the frame at 4 seconds as the cover", or "use my title card as the cover".
Can the Instagram Agent post a Story of my latest long-form every day?
Yes. Tell it "Post a Story of my latest long-form every day" (add a time if you want one) and it sets up a routine. Each day it posts a Story card of your most recent published long-form piece with Link in bio. You can also ask for a routine that turns every short-form post you publish into a tweet card on Instagram, or posts a Story whenever you publish a long-form piece.
What Instagram account does the Instagram Agent need?
A Creator or Business account. A personal account can't connect. To switch, open Instagram, go to your profile, tap ☰ > Account type and tools > Switch to professional account, pick a category and choose Creator. It's free and you can switch back. Your posts, followers and handle stay the same, but a private account usually becomes public. No Facebook Page is needed.
What does the Substack Agent do?
The Substack Agent writes, schedules and publishes Substack Notes from your Digital Brain, on the schedule you chose. It writes Notes only. Your newsletter posts are your own long-form writing, and the agent does not write them.
Can the Substack Agent schedule my newsletter?
Yes. Give it your finished newsletter (paste it, attach a Markdown file, or share the page) and tell it when to send. It publishes your text exactly as written: the first # line becomes the title and the line under it the subtitle. It never rewrites your newsletter.
- Attach an image to use as the header. It goes above the text, and Substack uses it as the post's thumbnail and share preview. A landscape image (about 1456×1048) fits best.
- No image? The Designer draws a header in your brand kit (if you've hired the Designer). It appears on the newsletter in about a minute. Don't like it? Ask the agent for a different one, or open the newsletter and use the header's Replace menu (upload, media library, or Have the Designer draw a new one), or remove it.
- Click the newsletter's card to open it: change the header image, title, subtitle or text (select text for formatting and links; Markdown works as you type:
#heading,-list,>quote,**bold**; click a link to see, edit or remove it), then press Schedule to confirm the time you asked for. Pick another time… and Post now are under the arrow next to it. - Once it's scheduled, the chat shows a "Newsletter scheduled for …" line with its title.
- Once it has its time (you approve it, or in Autopilot when the agent books it), it goes onto Substack's own schedule right away. Substack sends it at that time, even when Typeshare and your computer are closed, and it shows in Substack's dashboard under scheduled posts. Its card says Scheduled on Substack.
- While it's on Substack's schedule it can't be edited: Substack has it as it was booked. To change it, Unschedule it (it comes off Substack's schedule), edit, and schedule it again. Moving it to another time, rejecting it or sending it back for review takes it off Substack's schedule first, then books it again where needed. If Substack already sent it, Typeshare says so instead.
- Substack may ask for a 6-digit code it emails you before it takes the newsletter (see "Why does Substack ask me for a code when I publish?"). When you approve it, the Confirm it's you on Substack window opens: enter the code and it's scheduled on Substack. When the agent booked it with nobody there, no email is sent: its card, the Queue tab and the Schedule page say Confirm with Substack right away, well before its time. Click Confirm with Substack, enter the code Substack emails you, and it goes onto Substack's schedule. If its time has already passed, it's marked like any post that didn't go out, and Confirm with Substack sends it now.
Connecting Substack uses the Typeshare Connector browser extension in Chrome (Edge, Brave and Arc also work) on a computer. See "How do I connect Substack to the Substack Agent?".
Can the Substack Agent add tags to my newsletter?
Yes. When it schedules or saves your newsletter, the Substack Agent adds 1 to 3 Substack tags for what the piece is about, reusing the tags your publication already has where they fit (it only makes a new one when none does). It never changes your words. To pick them yourself, tell it ("tag it Writing and AI"), or open the newsletter and set them on the Substack line in Preview & Publish. To change them later, ask it, or edit them there. A newsletter already on Substack's schedule gets new tags added there too (removing one is done in Substack's post settings).
What does AI Cole do?
AI Cole is a writing coach built from Nicolas Cole's frameworks, writing and courses (such as Ship 30 for 30). Ask it about writing, positioning, newsletters, LinkedIn or ghostwriting. It looks at your Digital Brain so its advice fits what you actually write about.
- It coaches and gives feedback. When you ask for feedback on a draft, it tells you what works and what to change, rather than rewriting it.
- It can write hooks, outlines or rewrites when you ask, and hands them back in the chat.
- It does not schedule or publish posts. Use a publishing agent for that.
- It has no queue, schedule or routines. It only answers when you message it.
What does the Designer do?
The Designer turns your writing into visuals using your brand kit: essay images, carousels (decks), and generated images such as newsletter headers. It does not publish, but it can put a visual on a post that's already on your Schedule, and your other agents use it automatically when your Media library has nothing for a post. See the Designer help for details.
Do agents write posts from nothing?
No. Publishing agents only repurpose your own writing. Every post comes from something you wrote that is in your Digital Brain, or from a link or text you shared. An agent can:
- Repeat something you said.
- Combine two things you said, keeping your meaning.
- Combine several of your statements in a format you have used before.
Agents never invent stories, numbers, opinions or calls to action, and never pass off someone else's writing as yours. Each post lists its sources, so you can see the original passages it came from.
If your Digital Brain doesn't have enough material on a topic, the agent writes fewer posts or leaves queue slots open rather than making something up. The more you have written and imported, the more your agents can work with. See the Digital Brain help to add more.
Will an agent publish without my approval?
That depends on the agent's mode:
- Pilot (recommended): nothing goes out until you approve it, on the post's card or by telling the agent ("schedule it", "publish it now"). Saying "publish it" publishes straight away and the agent replies with the link. A routine never publishes in Pilot. The agent also asks you to approve its weekly plan before it drafts.
- Autopilot: posts are approved by default, go into your queue and publish on schedule. You can still edit or pull any post before it goes out.
Agents also only write when you ask them or when a routine you set up runs. See "Reviewing agent posts" for how approval works.
Can I approve posts by telling the agent?
Yes. In Pilot you can approve in the chat instead of pressing the buttons. Say "looks good, schedule it", "approve all", or name posts by their place in the latest list: "approve 1-5, skip 6 and 7" or "reject the third, too salesy". The agent schedules the ones you approved (at the time you asked for, or your next open slot), rejects the ones you rejected (keeping your reason), and leaves skipped ones waiting. The list in the chat updates to match.
How do agents use my Digital Brain?
Your Digital Brain is where agent posts come from. Publishing agents look at which topics you have a lot to say about but rarely post on, and which topics perform best, then pull your own words from the brain for each post.
When you share a link in an agent's chat (an article, a Notion page or a Typeshare post), the agent reads it and writes from it right away. It doesn't add the link to your Digital Brain, and it doesn't ask you to. Each post's sources show the piece it came from.
To keep something in your Digital Brain so agents can use it again later, add it from the Digital Brain page.
Published agent posts are read back into your Digital Brain.
How do agents use my Media library?
Agents can put images and videos from your Media library on posts. They use what you uploaded and what you saved (for example a Designer visual you clicked Save to Media on). They don't reuse media from posts you already published.
About half of an agent's posts get media by default. You can change that to none, 25%, 75% or every post under Media on posts on the agent's Info tab. Agents look in your folders first and only attach a picture that fits the post. When nothing in your library fits:
- The post goes out as text and tells you which picture would help, so you know what to add to Media.
- Agents never have the Designer make a picture on their own. To get a Designer visual on a post, open it and choose Make a visual from the image icon, or select some text and click Make a visual.
Newsletters are the exception: a Substack newsletter the agent schedules without an image still gets a Designer header (if you've hired the Designer).
To have an agent use a specific image, mention it or the folder it is in.
You can also attach an image or video directly in an agent's chat and ask the agent to put it on a post.
What plugins can agents read from?
Plugins live in the Marketplace (left sidebar), on the Plugins tab:
- Notion: lets your agents read pages and docs from your Notion workspace, private pages included.
- Google Drive: share a folder by link. Images in it can go on posts, and Docs, Sheets, Slides and notes in it are material your agents can draw on.
Agents use plugin content as your source material. They draw on it but never paste whole pages back.
How do I connect Notion so my agents can read it?
- In the left sidebar, click Marketplace and open the Plugins tab.
- Click Notion, then Connect.
- Sign in to Notion, pick the pages your agents may read, and allow access. You come back to the Marketplace afterwards.
When you return, you see "Notion connected. Your agents can search and read it when you ask." Then paste a Notion link in an agent's chat, or name a page and ask the agent to find it.
If an agent says a Notion page was not found, share that page with the Typeshare integration (see below) and ask again.
How do I see or change which Notion pages my agents can read?
Open Marketplace, Plugins, Notion. The Workspace card shows the connected workspace and its icon, and Shared pages lists every page and database you shared, each linking to Notion. Pages inside a shared page are readable too.
To add or remove pages, click Change pages in the Workspace card. Notion opens its page picker; change your selection, allow access, and you come back to the list.
To disconnect, open Notion in the Marketplace and click Remove.
