What is the Brain Score?

The Brain Score measures how much your Digital Brain knows. Every idea Typeshare finds in your posts, notes and interview answers is an insight, and every insight earns points:

  • Personality insight: 2 points. Your stories, opinions, lessons and life facts. Only you could have written them.
  • Commodity insight: 1 point. Advice and facts anyone in your field could state.

Your Brain Score is the total of those points. Personality counts double because it's what makes your writing yours.

How do I earn Brain Score points?

Add more of your own thinking to your Digital Brain:

  • Publish posts from Typeshare. Each published post is read and scored.
  • Import your X, LinkedIn and Threads history. Your past posts are scored as they're imported.
  • Answer topic interviews. Each answer you give (not skips) adds insights. Personality-round answers with details usually score highest.
  • Add notes and links with Import → Paste text on the Digital Brain page.

How is a post's Brain Score worked out?

Typeshare splits each piece into its separate ideas (insights) and tags each one as personality or commodity. The piece's Brain Score is (personality insights × 2) + (commodity insights × 1).

Insights are also labeled by kind: Story, Lesson, Opinion, Insight or Life fact.

For example, a post with 2 personality insights and 3 commodity insights scores 2 × 2 + 3 × 1 = 7 points.

A post you posted more than once (the same words on another platform, or the same platform again later) counts once, the first time it went out. The later ones stay in your Digital Brain, linked to it as Posted N times, but add nothing to your score.

Where can I see my Brain Score?

  • Digital Brain page, all posts: with no bubble selected, the panel on the right shows your total Brain Score and a bar splitting it into personality and commodity.
  • One topic or section: click its bubble to see its Topic Brain Score and split. Hover over a bubble to see its points, insights and pieces.
  • One post: published posts carry a +N badge with the Brain Score icon. Hover over it to see the personality and commodity split and the kinds of insights. In the Digital Brain, click a post to see its Brain Score, Insights, and each insight with its tags.
  • Sorting: choose Top Brain Score in the post list's sort menu to see your highest-scoring posts first.

A dash (—) instead of a number means the post hasn't been scored yet.

What does "Brain leveled up!" mean?

"Brain leveled up!" is the celebration you see when something new adds points to your Digital Brain. There are no numbered levels; it means your Brain Score just went up.

It appears in two places:

  • After you publish a post. A small toast at the bottom of the screen says "Calculating Brain Score" ("Your post is live. Seeing what it taught your brain."), then "Brain leveled up!" with the points earned (like +7) and what was found, such as "2 stories · 1 lesson". The toast follows you around the app until it finishes or you close it.
  • After you finish a topic interview set. The result screen shows Brain leveled up! with the Brain points and Insights you added.

Why does my published post say "Nothing new for your brain this time"?

The Brain Score toast after publishing says "Nothing new for your brain this time" when Typeshare found no new insights in the post, so it earned no points. The post is still published.

If the toast says "Your brain is still reading it.", scoring took longer than usual. The score will appear on the post's +N badge once it's ready. Scoring usually takes a few seconds, sometimes a minute or two.

Why did my Brain Score go down?

Your Brain Score goes down when something leaves your Digital Brain:

  • You deleted a published Typeshare post, or turned it back into a draft.
  • You went back in a topic interview and changed an answer to Skip, or changed it to an answer with fewer insights.
  • Typeshare found posts you'd posted more than once (the same words on X and LinkedIn, say, or a post you shared again later). The same post counts once, so the later copies stopped adding to your score. They're still in your Digital Brain, marked Posted N times.

Disconnecting X, LinkedIn or Threads does not lower your score. The posts already imported stay in your Digital Brain.

What is the personality and commodity split in my Brain Score?

The bar under your Brain Score shows what share of your insights are personality (orange) versus commodity. A high personality share means your Digital Brain is full of things only you could say. On the Digital Brain page, deeper orange bubbles are sections with more personality.

To raise your personality share, answer the Personality round of topic interviews with details, and write posts with your own stories, lessons and opinions.
