What is the Ideas panel?
The Ideas panel shows post ideas from your Digital Brain on the Write page. There are two kinds of idea:
- Interview ideas come from your topic interview answers. They're marked Personality or Commodity, depending on which interview round the answers came from.
- Remix ideas are marked Remix. They combine things you've already written into angles you haven't covered yet, mixed across the parts of your Digital Brain you choose.
Each idea has a title, a short angle, and the topic it belongs to. Ideas tell you what to write about. They don't write the post for you.
How do I open the Ideas panel?
- On a computer: open the Write page and click Ideas in the top right corner. The panel, "Ideas from your Digital Brain", opens beside the page. Click the arrow button in its header (Close ideas) to close it.
- On a phone: open the Write page and tap Need an idea? ("Ideas from your Digital Brain"). The ideas open in a sheet.
- After a topic interview: finish a question set and click Turn your answers into posts. The Write page opens with the Ideas panel showing ideas from that interview first.
How do I see what an idea in the Ideas panel came from?
Each idea card has a link under its angle:
- Interview ideas say "Your answer" or "Your 3 answers". Click it to see each question and your answer.
- Remix ideas say "From your post" or "From 4 of your posts". Click it to see the posts and the parts of them the idea draws on.
How do I start writing from an idea in the Ideas panel?
- On the idea card, pick a format with the small icons: Short Form, LinkedIn Post, Long Form, Atomic Essay or Deck.
- Click Write.
A new draft opens with the idea's title and an empty body. You write the post. Beside the editor, the Your idea panel keeps the idea and its source material in view as a reminder: "Your answers" for interview ideas, or "From your posts" for remix ideas.
For a remix idea, you can click a post under "From your posts" to read it with its numbers. There's no Remix button there: those posts are reference for the idea's new angle, not the start of your draft.
If you've already started a draft from that idea in that format, the format icon has a green dot and the button says Open draft. It opens your existing draft instead of making a new one.
Why did my remix idea's draft end up as a copy of my old post?
A remix idea's draft starts with only the idea's title. If the draft holds your old post word for word, it came from the Remix button on a post in your Digital Brain, which copies that post into a new draft so you can repost or rework it. Each click makes another copy. That button no longer appears on the posts in the Your idea panel. Delete any copies you don't want, and write the remix idea in its own draft (click Open draft on the idea card).
How do I get new ideas in the Ideas panel?
- Click More ideas at the bottom of the list for a fresh set of remix ideas from the same parts of your Digital Brain you picked last time.
- To choose which parts to draw from, click the refresh button in the panel's header (New ideas). Pick sections (or Select all / Clear all), then click Generate ideas. Your choice is remembered next time.
New ideas say "Finding new ideas…" while they're made.
Why is my Ideas panel empty?
- "Your Digital Brain is empty." There's nothing to make ideas from yet. Click Add a topic to create a topic, or Open your Digital Brain to import your posts. Then answer a topic interview or add posts.
- "No ideas yet." Your Digital Brain has content but no ideas have been made. Click Generate ideas.
- "Finding ideas in your interview answers…" Typeshare is making ideas from finished interview sets that didn't have ideas yet. Wait a moment.
Interview ideas only come from sets you've finished, or sets with at least three answers that you've stepped away from for a while. Skipped questions don't count. If you see "Answer a few questions before creating post ideas.", answer more questions in that topic interview first.
Why does the Ideas panel say "Creating ideas took too long"?
Sometimes the AI that finds your ideas is slow to respond. When it takes too long, Typeshare stops and shows "Creating ideas took too long. Please try again." Nothing is lost. Click Generate ideas (or More ideas) again. For a finished topic interview, the Ideas panel also tries that set again the next time you open it.
Why does the Ideas panel say "The ideas came back incomplete"?
Now and then the AI that finds your ideas sends back a reply Typeshare can't read. Typeshare doesn't save a broken list, so it shows "The ideas came back incomplete. Please try again." instead. Nothing is lost. Click Generate ideas (or More ideas) again; a second try usually works.
Why does the Ideas panel say "Your answers changed"?
If you change a topic interview answer after its ideas were made, those ideas no longer match. Clicking Write on one of them shows "Your answers changed. Go back and generate fresh ideas first." Open that topic interview, go to the end of the set, and click Turn your answers into posts to get ideas from your updated answers.
Does the Ideas panel write posts for me?
No. Typeshare doesn't write for you from nothing. The Ideas panel finds what to write about in your own thinking (your interview answers and past posts) and shows you where each idea came from. When you open an idea, the draft has only its title. The writing is yours.
