What is the weekly AI allowance?
Your plan includes a weekly allowance of AI usage. AI work in Typeshare, such as agent chats, agent routines and AI writing help, draws from it.
- The allowance resets every Monday at 00:00 UTC, separately from your billing date.
- All-Access includes a larger allowance than Basic.
- If you switch plans, the new allowance applies from the current week.
Unused allowance doesn't carry over to the next week.
Where can I see my AI usage?
On All-Access:
- Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose Settings.
- Open AI Usage.
(On iPhone, open your account menu from the Chats screen and tap AI Usage.)
Under Weekly limit you'll see a bar showing what percent of this week's allowance you've used and the date it resets. Click the refresh icon next to "Last updated" to update it.
The AI Usage tab is part of All-Access. Basic accounts don't see it.
What happens when I reach my weekly AI limit?
When your weekly allowance is used up and extra usage is off, AI work stops until the allowance resets on Monday. You'll see a message like "You have used your weekly AI allowance. Open Settings → Usage to add credit or enable auto-reload." In an agent chat, click Manage usage to go straight to the AI Usage settings.
Agent routines that run while you're out of usage don't run. You'll get an email saying the routine "didn't run because you're out of AI usage for now". If a routine fails 3 times in a row it is paused; turn it back on from the routine once you've added usage.
You can still ask Ty, the in-app help assistant, for help when you're out of usage.
To keep going before Monday, turn on extra usage (see "How do I turn on extra usage?").
How do I turn on extra usage?
Extra usage lets you keep using AI after your weekly allowance runs out. It is only used once the weekly allowance is gone.
- Open Settings > AI Usage.
- Under Extra usage, switch on "Turn on extra usage to keep using Typeshare if you hit a limit."
- Add credit with Buy extra usage, or set up auto-reload.
If you switch extra usage off, any balance you have is saved for later ("Your balance is saved. Turn on extra usage to use it.").
How do I buy extra AI usage?
- Open Settings > AI Usage and make sure extra usage is on.
- Click Buy extra usage.
- Enter an amount between $5 and $500.
- Click Continue to Stripe and confirm the one-time payment.
The credit is added to your Current balance once the payment is confirmed. Unused credit carries over from week to week and month to month.
If you see "Set up your subscription in Billing to purchase additional usage", you need an active subscription first (see the plans doc).
How does auto-reload work?
Auto-reload adds credit automatically when you need more usage and your balance is low, so your agents don't stop mid-week.
- Open Settings > AI Usage (extra usage on).
- Click Auto-reload off next to your current balance (or "Enable auto-reload for 10% bonus credit on every reload").
- Set Amount to add (USD) and When balance falls below (USD).
- Tick the box authorizing the charge, then click Save.
Each reload adds 10% bonus credit: reloading $15 adds $16.50 of credit. Auto-reload only charges your saved card when additional usage is actually needed, and never more than your monthly spending limit. Saving settings doesn't charge you.
To turn it off, open the auto-reload settings and click Disable.
What is the monthly spending limit for extra usage?
The monthly spending limit caps how much you spend on extra usage (top-ups and auto-reloads) in a calendar month. It starts at $50 and can be set up to $1,000.
To change it: Settings > AI Usage > Adjust limit, enter a new amount, and click Save.
The AI Usage tab shows how much you've spent in top-ups this month and when that resets. If you reach the limit you'll see "Your monthly top-up spending limit has been reached. You can change it in Settings → Usage."
Your prepaid balance can't go above $1,000. If a top-up would push it over, you'll see "This top-up would exceed the maximum prepaid balance. Use your existing credit first."
Why did my auto-reload fail?
If an auto-reload can't charge your card, an error appears in Settings > AI Usage with an Update payment method link. Click it, update your card on the secure Stripe page, and auto-reload will work again.
If you see "Payment confirmation is delayed. Refresh to check your credit again.", the payment is still being confirmed. Wait a moment and refresh.
If you see "A previous top-up needs reconciliation. Please contact support.", contact support from Help & feedback in the account menu.
Where can I see my past top-ups?
Open Settings > AI Usage and expand Recent top-ups at the bottom. Each entry shows whether it was a Credit purchase or an Auto-reload, the date, the amount, and its status (for example credit added, awaiting payment confirmation, or refunded).
Still stuck? Ask Ty, bottom right. Or email help@typeshare.co.
