How do I connect Substack to Typeshare?

Substack doesn't let other apps log in to your account, so Typeshare posts through a free Chrome extension, the Typeshare Connector.

  1. Go to Settings > Channels and, under Add a channel, click Substack.
  2. Follow the three steps: add the Connector, log in to Substack in the same Chrome browser, then come back to Typeshare.
  3. You see Substack is connected, with the @handle your Notes will publish through.

The Connector connects whichever Substack account is logged in to Chrome, so check substack.com shows the right profile first. Substack logins expire; Typeshare shows Reconnect in the last 7 days before yours does.

How do I schedule a Substack Note?

  1. Start a post on the Write page and switch on Substack in the platform tiles.
  2. Write the Note (up to 4,000 characters). You can add images or a video.
  3. Click the arrow next to Add to Queue and choose Schedule for later, then pick a day and time. Or click Add to Queue to take the next free time in your Substack queue.

The same post can go to X, LinkedIn, Threads and Bluesky at the same time (see Can I post to X and LinkedIn at the same time?).

Can I schedule a week of Notes at once?

Yes. Your Substack queue is a set of regular days and times (see Scheduling and the queue). Pick Beginner, Pro or Expert for how often you want to post, and each Note you add with Add to Queue takes the next open time. The Schedule page shows everything that is booked, on every platform, and you can move posts around there.

Can AI write my Substack Notes?

On the All-Access plan, the Substack Agent writes, schedules and publishes Notes from your own writing in your Digital Brain, such as your past newsletters and posts, on the schedule you choose. It writes Notes only; your newsletters stay your own writing. In Pilot mode nothing goes out until you approve it.

Can I turn an Atomic Essay into a Note?

Yes. In the Atomic Essay's publish window, pick Substack. The essay goes out as a Note: the essay image, with an optional caption of up to 4,000 characters. It can be published now or scheduled.

Can I schedule my newsletter too?

Yes. Write it in the Long Form editor and open Preview & Publish. You can publish it to Substack (and to X as an X Article, and your Typeshare profile) now, schedule it, add it to your Long Form queue, or send it to your Substack drafts. You choose whether it's emailed to subscribers, whether it's for paid subscribers only, and its tags.

Can I import my Substack posts?

Yes. Typeshare can import the posts you have published on Substack, paid ones included, into your Digital Brain (see Can I import my old tweets, LinkedIn posts and newsletters?), so you and your agents can turn them into Notes and posts for other platforms.
